Erik is the director of the New York City Urban Debate League. He is a teacher and debate coach at the Bronx School for Law and Justice. He has been a schoolteacher and debate coach for 10 years in the South Bronx. He was also his high school’s first policy debater at James Logan High School in California and competed for four years in Policy Debate, Impromptu, Oratory, Student Congress, and little Lincoln Douglass debate! He graduated with a double major in Political Science and US History at the University of California, Berkeley. He received his law degree from UC Hastings College of Law. After graduation he was accepted to the 2002 Teach for America corps and has been teaching and coaching debate in the south Bronx since. In New York, he also received his Masters in Education from Pace University. In 2011 he became the executive director of the New York City Urban Debate League.
